Race Description

Lincolnshire Last Person Standing Race

One Loop. One Hour. Repeat Until You Break.

Welcome to the most beautifully brutal event in our calendar. The Yellow Belly Backyard Ultra isn't just a test of speed; it is a test of the mind. Set within the stunning Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that is the Lincolnshire Wolds, the premise is simple, but the execution is devastating.

There is no second place. There are no age category wins. In this race, there is only one Champion, and everyone else is a DNF.

How Backyard Ultras Work

The rules are non-negotiable and strictly enforced:

  1. The Yard: The course is a loop measuring exactly 4.167 miles.
  2. The Bell: A bell will sound on the hour, every hour.
  3. The Start: You must be in the starting pen when the bell rings. If you are not in the box, you are disqualified.
  4. The Lap: You must complete the loop within the hour.
  5. The Rest: Whatever time you have left after finishing the loop is yours to eat, sleep, fix your feet, or question your life choices.

The race continues indefinitely until only one runner remains to complete a solo lap. That runner is the winner. Everyone else receives a "Did Not Finish."

Course

The route is 100% off-road, weaving through undulating arable farmland and rugged trails. You will be running through the grounds of Wyham, a deserted medieval village documented in the Domesday Book of 1066.

While the history is ancient, the challenge is fresh. The ground is capable of handling as many laps as you can endure, but be warned: the rolling hills of the Wolds will chip away at your legs with every yard. With over 120 Meters of elevation with each yard. This is possibly the UK's toughest Backyard Ultra

Race HQ & Facilities

The Start/Finish area is your lifeline. This is the only checkpoint on the course.

  • Camping: Space is available at the start/finish for you to set up your personal base camp.
  • Campervans: Pitches are available but must be pre-arranged with us.
  • Support Crews: You are encouraged to bring a crew to keep you fed, watered, and moving.
  • Aid Station: We will provide hot and cold water for crews, plus basic sweet and savory snacks. However, this is an ultra, we strongly advise you to bring the specific nutrition you have trained with.
  • Registration: Available 6-9pm Friday 21st May and 6-7:30am Saturday 22nd May
  • Toilets: Available onsite throughout the event.

Mandatory Kit

You are responsible for your own safety and warmth. As the hours turn into days, the weather will change. You must have:

  • Suitable trail running footwear.
  • Waterproof jacket (seamed).
  • Insulated layer for rest periods/night laps.
  • Head torch with spare batteries (it gets very dark in the Wolds).
  • Hat, gloves, and buff.

Entry & Rewards

Limit: 100 Runners strictly.

We celebrate failure as much as success. While only one person takes the title, all competitors will receive a Yellow Belly Goodie Bag and our fantastic, personalised Yellow Belly DNF Medal to wear with pride.

Are you ready to see how far you can go before the bell beats you?
